The process
Owners Ruth and Kevin had formed a friendship while training together. In the beginning of 2019, Ruth called Kevin with an idea to open a fitness center, one that combined strength training and cardio into an environment that was inviting for all. Within that same month the local gym that they were members at closed without warning. During this time
When the original facility closed, Ruth took a big leap, she purchased the equipment, found a building and dove head first into gym ownership. Fueled by her vision, a little help from Kevin and hiring his stepdad Arthur Frank, the old Wood Masters of Maine building transformed into the areas best fitness facility.
From January to March of 2019 worked from daylight to well past sunset ripping, tearing and remodeling the building, as well as moving equipment into the new facility. Ruth got Rhabdomyolysis the end of March after a week of working alone from 6 a.m. until 2 a.m. tearing down walls to make 5 offices into the cardio area. The process was grueling, as it was not an option to hire professionals to perform the work.
In the middle of March, 2019 the soft opening was a success, followed by an open house in April which had fully functioning 24/7 access, showers, and an equipped cardio area.
May of 2021 Kevin Smith decided to leave Smith's True Fitness to pursue other interest.
As of today, Smiths True Fitness LLC continues to go through updates and upgrades. It is local family owned and operated with a solid 5 star rating on google out of 50 reviews, 2k likes on Facebook, as well as a great local reputation for cleanliness, customer service and progress!
